25 Songs, 25 Days

So I’m starting a new writing challenge today.

It’s called 25 Songs, 25 Days. I saw it on Pinterest over the weekend. The purpose of this challenge is to pick one song per day and give an explanation of why you picked it.

The great thing about this challenge is that I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv music. I have approximately 3070 songs on my iPhone and while I do not listen to all of them all of the time, it’s nice to be able to pick a random song to listen to every now and then. Then again there is something about discovering a new song, artist, or musical genre or hearing a song you haven’t heard in years or a song that reminds you of a period/chapter/moment in your lifetime. Anyway… the challenge list is below if you would like to take this challenge with me. Please feel free to share the song you picked in the comments section of each day!!

Nerdtastic, Write?

I am an aspiring writer trying to find my place in the world. Writing makes me happy, save lives much like coffee, and keeps me grounded. To honestly know me is to understand my way of thinking, my quirky, sarcastic side comments, and left uppercut verbal jabs and side-eye death stares. I’m simplistic but can often be very complex in nature. I love life to the absolute fullest, but I am human; therefore, I have more than my fair share of ups and downs. I am a giant kid, so being goofy comes naturally to me. I secretly strive to be the next Ernest Hemingway, J.K. Rowling, Zora Neale Hurston, or Shonda Rhimes. I openly and stupidly wear every bit of my heart on my sleeve and refuse to apologize for or minimize my true, unedited feelings.

  1. #1: A song from your childhood – I Love a Rainy Night by Eddie Rabbit (can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMZ4amjbqhU)

This is the first song that popped into my head. I remember playing the 45 (yes, I am old) over and over. It also reminds me of my friend, Tony G., who was diagnosed with leukemia around the same time this song was on the radio. I don’t know why, but I associate the song with him. We were in elementary school. We’re still friends (on Facebook). =)
